Ceramic Media for Deburring (Angle Cut Cylinder)
Angle Cut cylinder ceramic media for deburring have wide applications. Firstly, with its ends cut at angles of 22 to 60°, cylindrical media reaches recesses more easily. Also, cylinders and cones are ideal for deburring holes and contours.
We can also make other size ceramic tumbling media that not show in the table, so please contact us to get detail information
1. Why Cylinder Angle Cut Cylinder?
1.1 Cylinder shape media minimize lodging issue
Angle cut cylinder can effectively deburring the ID (Inner Diameter) of drilled holes in cast parts, or inside diameter of washer, and some other stamping parts.
The steel washer parts bellow is recommend to use cylinder shape (preferred angle cut cylinder shape media). Because ID 3/4 inch, so we recommend the cylinder shape media 70% of ID. A cylinder media with diameter 9/16 inch or 14mm is good choice.
Thus, each time one piece of cylinder can enter into the inner hole. This give much longer time for ceramic media wear down. As a result, it can effectively reduce lodging issue.
2. Longer life Cylinder Shape VS Triangle Shape
Cylinder shape with curved feature generate gentle movement compared with triangle shape media. Therefore this make it a longer life and less possibility of parts lodge in. Another advantage of cylinder shape media is: work as cushion and reduce parts-on-parts impingement.
2. General Properties
2.1 Features of Ceramic Media
- Engineering use Ceramic tumbling media mostly metal components deburring and cutting
- Ceramic abrasive media have varieties from Medium to Fast cutting
- Ceramic abrasive media have wide application rage. It suitable for vibratory finishing machinery and most other surface finishing machine.
2.2 Ceramic Media Composition
Manufacturers make ceramic abrasive media with mixture of several mineral materials. These materials including: abrasive grit, clay, feldspar and sand. Later, theses material mixed homogeneously and stirring machine with constant water dosing. After that, a vacuum compressor removes void in the material and make it a solid and rigid material before drying and baking.
First of all, ceramic abrasive media are available in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Also, engineer selects right grade of abrasive grit, the proportion of abrasive to binder, and the most suitable binder. All these factors contribute to the ceramic media performance. As a result, the right selection of media meet the requirement of certain parts and application.
While abrasive grit cut material from parts, the binder acts as a burnishing surface, and this works against rapid cutting.
